My Experience of Using Secondhand Cellphone

Have you ever brought a secondhand cellphone? How do you feel about secondhand cellphones? At present, a lot of secondhand goods are marketed–clothes, books, cars, cellphones, etc. As far as I am concerned, secondhand goods have their strong points. In some aspects, they outperform new ones. I am now using a secondhand cellphone. It has been with me for nearly three years. Most of my friends are surprised by it. I would like to share my experience of using the secondhand cellphone.

Firstly, buying a secondhand cellphone will save money. It is widely known that secondhand cellphones are much cheaper than new cellphones. They are expecially suitable for students, as students have not so much pocket money to afford the latest cellphones. My sencondhand cellphones cost me 400 RMB three years ago. At that time, the new one of the same type was over 1000 RMB.

Secondly, when buying secondhand cellphones, it is better to choose branded secondhand cellphones, because branded cellphones, no matter new or secondhand, are of superior to ordinary cellphones. There is a group of people who always pursue the new arrival of cellphones. Those people often sell their "obsolete" cellphones to secondhand markets. Thus, some secondhand cellphones are, in fact, used for a while.

Thirdly, we should maintain secondhand cellphones as well as new ones, for the after-sales service of secondhand cellphones is incomplete. When the secondhand cellphone is out of work, what we can do is to buy another cellphone. Therefore, prolonging the service life of secondhand cellphones lies on the users. Besides, secondhand cellphones are not easy to attract the thief’s notice. One of my cellphones used to be stolen by a thief. I was very angry, because the cellphone was branded new and cost me much money. Since then, I have paid more attention on my cellphones and I prefer secondhand cellphones.

Finally, using secondhand goods is a way of environmental protection. The increasing replacement of cellphones cause much waste. Using secondhand cellphones can not only extend the lifespan of cellphones, but also decrease energy consumption.

For the sake of the environment and human beings, I think it is necessary to use secondhand cellphones and other secondhand articles including textbooks, furniture, houses, etc.

My Opinions on People Who Use Old-fashioned Mobile Phones

The mobile phone I am using is a Nokia 6300. It is 13.1 mm thick and its body is made of stainless steel; it has a big screen—2.0 inches and on its sides there are two indicator lights to remind you of the missed calls and unread messages. Besides, It owns almost all the popular and new functions a mobile phone should have.

However, we can still see some people who use phones that are very old or old-fashioned with only a few functions. When most people change their mobile phones frequently in order to keep up with the fashion and enjoy the new functions, such people seem out-dated and may be laughed at.

As for me, I think they are understandable.

The most commonly seen people with such phones are the elderly ones. Their main need for a mobile phone is to communicate with family members and friends. Mobile phones came into being just over 10 years ago. For most of their time, they have lived without mobile phones. Now, their living ways have not changed much, but they are old and need to communicate with their children for help. Moveover, many of them do not have much money and prefer to buy a cheaper mobile phone. So, their choice is reasonable.

Besides elderly people, there are also quite a few people who do not use fashionable mobile phones. Some of them may think the same way as elderly people, believing that the main function of a mobile phone is communication, so they can use a mobile phone so long as this function is at work. Some others may produce tender feelings towards their mobile phones and do not want to get rid of them.

Of course, there may be some other reasons for certain people to use old-fashioned mobile phones. However, we should understand their choices. Even if we like to use fashionble mobile phones, we had better not change them too frequently in order to save natural resources.
